This week we caught up with Twisted Time founder Alan Moore

November 7, 2014.

The TAKE TIME project is an interview series of questions for creatives, thinkers, musicians, industry experts, influencers, and generally anyone who stands out to us for doing something that little bit interesting (It also helps if they are wearing a watch...).  So to launch this new project where better to start but Twisted Time HQ.  Introducing the man behind Twisted Time:

Name: Alan Moore

Profession: Owner/Founder of Twisted Time

At the age of 18 Alan moved from rural Northern Ireland to Glasgow where he studied Business Management. Alan openly admits he wasn't the most studious person and only really attended class in his final year.  It was then that he studied a web design module and his passion for the web was born.  After University Alan travelled through the US and Canada. He ended up working in Vancouver, Canada where he met his now wife Kelsey. In 2007 job opportunities took Kelsey and Alan to the Caribbean. It was during this time Alan decided to build Twisted Time while living the beach life.  When they returned to Glasgow in February 2010 everything was in place and the site launched a few weeks later.

Today Twisted Time is known as the go to online retailer specialising in design focused watches and launching new and up and coming brands and designers.

How would you describe a typical day in your life?
We are a pretty efficient bunch at Twisted Time HQ. Until recently my wife (Kelsey) and I did everything apart from the copywriting. This included customer service, designing/developing the site, book keeping, discovering new brands, marketing, general admin, social media etc. I try to have a bit of a structure so I will do certain things on certain days. Wednesdays are the nightmare ‘Accounts Day’!

So I guess a typical day would include working on a few or all of the above things as well as countless other bits and pieces that crop up. We have just hired Terri to take care of all the press and marketing. Over the next 12 months the TT team will continue to grow.

How do you feel wearing a Twisted Time Product?
I’ve always loved watches so I take great pleasure in wearing them. The fact that they are stocked on the site I started as a hobby a few years ago makes them that little bit more special.

What watch are you wearing today?
The Niben By Triwa in Hurricane Brown. It's a really timeless watch, it has a nice tortoise casing and I like the fact the strap is from a small organic tannery. Its the small details that matter to us here at Twisted Time.

What are your next projects we should look out for?
Twisted Time will be taking up most of my time for the foreseeable future! We do have lots of exciting plans in place over the next 12 months that I personally can’t wait to launch and tell everyone about. In the meantime we will continue to bring all of the latest and greatest brands to the virtual shelves of Twisted Time.
