It's probably never crossed your mind how the visually impaired tell the time, but Bradley by Eone is a new and different solution because it also allows sighted wearers to tell the time the way they are used to and all can enjoy it's sophisticated and unique design, which aims to be inclusive, not exclusive.
Based in Washington DC, the story of how Eone came up with the Bradley is an interesting one. It was Eone's founder Hyungsoo Kim who recognised that most watches require sight and that existing timepieces for the visually impaired had their disadvantages. Their followed extensive consultation and collaboration with a number of visually impaired participants whose input helped shape the design of Bradley.
There followed a high profile Kickstarter campaign, during which over 3,800 backers exceeded the original needed amount of $40,000 to over $590,000.
Even the name of the watch is a source of inspiration. US Navy Lt. Brad Snyder lost his sight while serving in Afghanistan in 2011. Less than a year later Snyder won gold at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London and he has become an inspiration to millions. Snyder is now a spokesperson for the watch, as well as training for the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.
