Jacob Jensen was born in 1926 in Copenhagen and was quickly owned by a traveling spirit that led him to travel from the age of 20. Formed at School of Arts and Craft, he then specialised himself in furniture design with great names such as Poul Kjærholm. Before creating his own studio in 1958, he has worked in the US for many notorious design studios. Within his own studio, he has worked extensively for Bang & Olufsen. He has designed more than 200 products for B&O and has also created one of the most renowned design styles. In 1990, Timothy Jensen, Jacobs' son has developed the Jacob Jensen company overseas and has created Jacob Jensen branded products.
